Martina Holder-Franz and David Clark

In this podcast, theologian Martina Holder-Franz and Professor David Clark talk about the influence of philosophy, theology and spirituality in the work of Dame Cicely Saunders, who is often described as the founder of the modern hospice movement.

This conversation was recorded during the Symposium on the Life and Work of Cicely Saunders organised by the Atlantes research project and held at the San Juan de Dios Hospital in Pamplona, Spain in October 2015. You can watch videos of the presentations and read a summary of the symposium on our blog.

Martina is a theologian working at the University of Bern. In 2015 she translated Cicely Saunders’ book Beyond the Horizon into German, Der Horizont ist nur die Grenze unserer Sicht.

David is Wellcome Trust Investigator and Professor at the University of Glasgow, and founder of the Glasgow End of Life Studies Group.
